Meeting with an HCAD Undergraduate staff member
Please schedule a meeting with the program advisor to review requirements related to the B.A. in HCAD, to declare your major, and plan for registration each quarter. Prior to scheduling the meeting, complete "How to Prepare for Your HCAD Academic Planning Session" below.
You are expected to have completed a DTA and/or MATH 200, ECON 200, ENGL 201, and all pre-University and General Education Requirements. To schedule an appointment, email the program advisor.
The sooner you meet with an HCAD undergraduate staff member, the better. We will work with you to outline the correct sequence of classes for your B.A. in Health Care Administration.
How to Prepare for Your HCAD Academic Planning Session

If you are a transfer student, consult the transferology guide to determine which courses may be equivalent for both general education requirements and the HCAD major here- https://catalog.ewu.edu/hs/public-health-health-admin/health-admin/#hcadcoursestext
Courses taken to apply for the major should be completed late in your community college studies.
GPA and Grade Requirements
HCAD students must maintain a cumulative GPA ≥3.0 for all HCAD classes and no more than two course grades may be <B. Students earning three or more grades of <B in HCAD courses will be dismissed from the program. All other major requirements must be completed with a ≥C. Students in the Health Care Administration Program must have an overall cumulative GPA ≥2.25. To qualify for the internship, the student must have at least a GPA ≥3.0 in HCAD classes plus permission from the program director.
What to Do Your Junior and Senior Year
At least once per quarter, you should meet with your HCAD program specialist.

The following curriculum map is plan for a new student with zero credits. If you have any transfer work, AP credits, Running Start credits, or any other type of college level coursework, your plan will be different. Please always connect with your advisor and faculty mentor to double check you are on the correct path! Also, if you are required to take pre-university level courses, your plan will be different too.

Internships and Practicum
In the fall quarter of your senior year, you must attend the internship or practicum orientation meeting. The date of this meeting will be announced in the Fall Quarter classes. You will take part in an internship or practicum in the spring term of your senior year. The internship/ practicum provides valuable practical experience. You will apply the knowledge and skills you have learned throughout your coursework to a project in the healthcare field.
You will arrange your internship or practicum with Professor Allan rallan2@ewu.edu. The course for this internship is HCAD 495 and the course for the practicum is HCAD 486.
Applying for Graduation
Two quarters before you plan to graduate, you must fill out the graduation application form (click here for an example). You will need to have the application approved and signed, a process which may take approximately one week. You will also need to submit a payment to apply for graduation.
