Poll Everywhere is a web and SMS text-messaging student response system. During class, instructors display a Poll Everywhere activity on-screen and students respond with their phones. The results appear live on-screen for the class to discuss or for the instructor to grade. Instructors use Poll Everywhere to take attendance, give quizzes in classes, find out how well the class has understood a lesson, and generally make learning more active and the students more involved.

While Poll Everywhere has Canvas integration to import class rosters and export gradebook reports, it does not have a built-in method to embed activities within Canvas. It is possible, however, to use the Module tool in Canvas to insert the activity’s webpage instead of the embed code. The steps below will walk you through the process.

Step 1: On your My Polls page, click the title of the activity you want to embed.

Step 2: Select the Present tab near the top right of the window.

Step 3: Click the Share link to see the options for sharing an activity on the web.

Step 4: Decide whether to use the Live Results link to display the activity results in Canvas or the Shareable Response Link to allow students to respond from Canvas.

Step 5: In Canvas, select Add Item to Module.

Step 6: Select External URL from the drop-down menu.

Step 7: Paste the URL, name the item, then click the Add Item button in the bottom right.
