Welcome to Module 9 in SPED 470 Special Education Assessment! In this ninth module, we will learn about the assessment of written and oral language. Additionally, you will learn how to administer, score, and interpret CBM Writing Fluency probes, and how to present an educational assessment report.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the purpose of the assessment of written language. (CO1)
  2. Describe common standardized tests for assessing spelling. (CO 2, 3)
  3. Describe strategies for assessing handwriting. (CO 2, 3)
  4. Describe strategies for assessing composition. (CO 2, 3)
  5. Describe the purpose of the assessment of oral language. (CO 2, 3)
  6. Describe an example of a comprehensive measure of oral language. (CO 2, 3)
  7. Describe standardized testing as a strategy for assessing articulation. (CO 2, 3)
  8. Discuss the purpose of special education oral language assessment in answering the assessment questions. (CO 2, 3)
  9. Describe how to administer, score, and interpret CBM Writing Fluency probes. (CO 4, 5)
  10. Present an educational assessment report to an evaluation team. (CO 5, 6)
