Welcome to Module 4 in SPED 470 Special Education Assessment! In this fourth module, we will learn how to select assessment tools to promote fair assessment. Specifically, you will learn about the importance of assessment tools' reliability and validity and the various test scores produced from norm-referenced tests. You will also learn to about early reading and reading CBM.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

  1. Provide examples of core criteria for the selection of assessment tools. (CO 1)
  2. Discuss major concepts when evaluating different types of measurement. (CO 1)
  3. Distinguish between and evaluate reliability and validity when selecting tools for assessment. (CO 1)
  4. Describe types of test scores and other assessment results. (CO 4)
  5. Describe issues, problems, and opportunities that educators might encounter while promoting nonbiased assessment. (CO 3, 4)
  6. Describe how to administer, score, and interpret early reading CBMs. (CO 3, 4)
  7. Describe how to administer, score, and interpret reading CBMs. (CO 3, 4)
  8. Interpret standardized test scores. (CO 3, 4)
