Welcome to Module 3 in SPED 470 Special Education Assessment! In this third module, we will learn how to prepare for testing and administer assessments with fidelity to promote fair assessment. Specifically, you will learn about standardized test administration and other classroom assessments.

At the end of this module, students will be able to:

  1. Specify three major concepts that professional testers plan for in the preparation for testing. (CO 1, 4)
  2. Indicate key aspects professionals consider while recording student answers during test administration. (CO 1, 4)
  3. Specify examples of behavior that seasoned professionals look for while observing test takers. (CO 4)
  4. Explain four considerations professionals take into account in interpreting test results. (CO 5, 6)
  5. Provide examples of modifications used by professionals related to testing procedures. (CO 1, 4)
  6. Provide examples of avoiding bias in testing. (CO 1)
  7. Define and explain the three major types of classroom assessments: obtrusive and nonobtrusive, curriculum-based, and informant. (CO 2)
  8. Define and discuss true–false, multiple choice, and matching in classroom tests and quizzes. (CO 2)
  9. Describe error analysis, rubric techniques, task analysis, informal inventories, criterion-referenced tests, diagnostic probes, diagnostic teaching, and portfolio assessment (CO 2)
  10. Name the four purposes of grading and report cards according to Airasian. (CO 2)
  11. Discuss the limitations of reliability and validity in interpreting classroom assessment results. (CO 6)
  12. Administer and score Tests 6, 7, 9, 10, and 11 of the WJ-IV ACH. (CO 3, 4)
