Assignments

Assignments in Canvas can be used to gauge students' understanding and help assess competency. The Assignments page will show your students all of the Assignments that will be expected of them and how many points each is worth. Read the following tutorials to get started creating, grouping, and weighting assignments in Canvas.

Groups & Weighting

 Another useful feature of the Assignments page is the ability to group and weight assignments. To do this, find and click the "+Group" button right next to the blue "+Assignment" button on the top right of the page.

After you have clicked the +Group Button, a menu will appear asking you to give the group a name and allowing you to add a weight to the group. This is the easiest and most useful way to weight grades in Canvas.
