Citing Sources
Citations and Plagiarism
To avoid plagiarizing someone else’s work, it is important to properly cite your sources. While there are several citation styles used in academic writing, the two main styles are MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association). The particular style used will be determined by the discipline, with MLA being used primarily in the arts and humanities (literature, library science, etc.), and APA is used in the social sciences (education, psychology, etc). Particulars about each style are available at Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab - OWL Links to an external site..
